2023 Steeple Aston Cricket Club Annual Report

This year the Farrar Foundation has also worked to support the combined efforts of Steeple Aston Cricket Club and Lord’s Taverners, UK based charities which have worked together to empower and positively impact the lives of disadvantaged young people and adults through sport.

The Lord Tavener’s Celebrity Cricket Fixture

The Steeple Aston Cricket Club is a small club in Oxfordshire which set out to raise money for Lord Taverners. In2023, the Farrar Foundation contributed £5,000, allowing for the club to host events such as the Steeple Aston Cricket Club concert in March this year - tickets were sold for an hour of cricket related music, and readings by actor Robert Powell. Dinners and golf days were also organised as part of the fundraising effort, as well as participation in the Lord’s Taverners celebrity cricket XI fixtures, which took place on Sunday 21st of May.

Lord Taverners and Steeple Aston Cricket Club

The fundraising work done has had a fantastic outcome, with a total of £55,000 being raised this year — breaking not only Steeple Aston Cricket Clubs fundraising record, but also the previous fund-raising record by any village team raising money for Lord’s Taverners. This money allows disabled children and children from disadvantaged areas to access and enjoy cricket, benefiting individuals and their families socially, mentally, and physically.
